2010 Celebration

A message from the Wizard's Apprentice: Last years event was amazing....we had over 150 people for the bbq babyback rib dinner and well over 500 people for the firework show! I want to thank Legendary Entertainment and my pyro crew, the Brethren of Pyro, for all the hard work that put the show WAY over the top of previous years! Of course this could never happen on the scale it does today without all the generous donations toward food and fireworks. This Event will always be free and all donations will either go in our bellies or rip open the sky to our amazement and delight.

For the "Fire in the Hole 2010" display I have some really unique ideas I'm toying with. I promise it will again blow away all those who come! I am currently working on getting sponsors from Miller Lite and Pepsi in hopes to help fund the pyro bill. If you have any other ideas please pass them on. (and no...I'm not calling Budweiser!)

By the end of March I will have to sign this years contract and place the pyro order. If you are able to contribute to the fund, please do so soon. Due to lack of overtime and a few longtime contributors getting layed off we are very short this year. I have already doubled the babyback rib order and will make sure the food lines are better served.

Check out Legendary's web site if you get the time (this will open in a new tab/window)! Can't wait to see you all very soon.

Photography Tips on Shooting Fireworks!

I decided this year to shoot the guys in the pit as they did their magic. Earlier this year, I purchased a Digital SLR and so I was prepared...or so I thought. Not experienced enough, I didn't have a clue and I really was disappointed in what I shot. So, with a little research after the fact, I found some sites explaining the art of good Fireworks photos and realized my settings were all wrong. So, it you want to take some awesome pictures and you don't have a Point-and-Shoot camera with firework settings, the following links should point you in the right direction. If you were at the celebration and have some great pictures, please send them in a zipped file to me. Thanks! - Lawrence Hettinger

You are looking at the last 16 Inch shell in the United States to be used in a Fireworks Display. All future shells this size will have to be manufactured here (not China) and will require a High Explosive license! This shell was in the Celina, Ohio Freedom Days Celebration on the 4th of July. As you can see, Tyler is excited to be one of a few to actually hold this shell! - Lawrence
